I refused to cook dinner last night and told the boys it was up to them. I felt like crap. Well needless to say I ate popcorn and my own personal chocolate cake. I followed this recipe and created this:

Yes, it’s half eaten. I didn’t think “OOOOooo I should take a picture” until I was about halfway through . I didn’t have any chocolate chips when I made it so I threw in some white chocolate chips. It was quite yummy. The only thing that would have made it better was some ice cream or whip cream to go on top….other than that….DELISH. You should really try it out for yourself!
On another note Blaze thought he would help me get ready this morning…see,,,how cute!

DIY – Studded Shorts

In my fashion show inspiration post I showed these shorts:

Today we’re going to make them. Here’s what you’ll need:
MATERIALS:

Cut-off shorts/Jeans to cut-off
Ruler
Invisible marking pen, chalk, washable marker
Studs
Lighter, pliers, etc.

INSTRUCTIONS:

If you haven’t already you need to cut-off your shorts. You can cut them off at an angle like the ones above, straight across, longer in the back, etc. It doesn’t matter the shape or the length, that’s your preference.

Use the ruler and decide how close together you want the studs. Use your marking utensil to mark out a grid for the studs. I put purple dots where I am going to poke the studs just so you can see it better.

Simply start the poking the studs through using the grid. I made sure to poke the prong on the left side of the stud into the intersecting lines on the grid.
To close the studs I typically use the end of the lighter. It’s hard and small enough to poke the prong down. Some people just use their fingers and I have heard of others using pliers.
If your shorts have not already been washed and frayed be sure to leave enough room next the cut edge to allow for fraying once they’ve been washed.

Voila..you have a brand new rock n’ roll pair of cut-offs. Throw them on with your favorite band tee, killer booties and go rock out.

TIPS:

The first time you wash them you may lose some studs depending on how well you bent the prongs in. No big deal, fish the studs out of the washing machine, bend the prongs back out and reinsert them. Just be sure you bend the prongs in better this time.
To prevent losing studs when washing you may want to stick to hand washing if you’ve already frayed the edges, or wash them in a lingerie bag. I was going to go the lingerie bag route, but alas…I haven’t seen mine since the move.
Chalks works as a marking utensil, but since you are handling the shorts so much putting the studs in, it tends to wear off once you get towards the bottom. I winged it, and you certainly can too, but a light colored washable marker or a marking pen from the sewing department might be better options. You can even choose to just make dots where the prongs of the stud will go, but i prefer making the grid because it’s easier for me to keep everything in line.

DIY French Tip Nails

I decided to play around with my nails last night, so it was time for some french tips, but not just any french tips would do. I used Finger Paints Warm He-art-ed as a base, and Revlon Top Speed Stormy for the tips. The tips could have been better, but I love the color combo.

DIY Lingerie??

People make and embellish clothing, jewelry and accessories all the time, but often times lingerie is that one little thing that most all ladies wear in some form that simply gets ignored. Not anymore!

Thanks to the great folks over at Burdastyle you can now get patterns for the items pictured above, as well as some other items that would be fabulous both in and out of the bedroom. Don’t think just because these patterns aren't featured as outerwear that they can’t be used for even more fashionable purposes. The high waisted panties and bustier could easily be turned into a chic retro swimsuit with the right fabric. The bustier its self would create the perfect pin-up look paired with a high waisted pencil skirt, circle skirt or shorts. You have so many possibilities with these patterns…just use your imagination!

Recipe – Oven Baked Chicken Parm

I found this recipe from Feed My Temple on Pinterest.

Skinny Chicken Parmesan {recipe}

I followed the basic instructions and made a tweak and I must say it was absolutely delicious. You might ask…well what did you do?

Simple…I stuffed it with cheese. I pounded the chicken breasts out with a meat mallet, put shredded mozzarella inside, folded them back over and then followed the instructions for breading and cooking. I realized I should have taken a pic, but I didn’t think about it. I just figured I would share this yummy recipe with you and fill you in on my little tweak that made an awesome dinner. The same night I also used the left over breading to make some fried zucchini…I was quite yummy too, so keep that in mind when you make this yourself.

Fashion Show Inspiration

Since the weekend is upon us, and my weekends are now spent preparing for my fashion show I figure I would show you some the inspiration that I have collected from around the internet and pinned on Pinterest.

I love the cutouts on this dress

Love the leather accent on these. I’ve actually already made some out of a pair of gray dress pants and black faux leather. The shape of my accent is different as well. I just free handed it and had fun with it.

Love the idea of bleaching them then just going crazy with a design.

The mini with the sheer coming out is fabulous, but I think I will take mine in a grungier direction.

DIY Layered Haircut

Yep….you just read that right…DIY haircut….as in I cut my own hair!
It really wasn’t that hard, and it was super quick. I have seen tutorials around the web where you basically pull all of your hair straight up and chop off a few inches in one straight line leaving you with a long layered hair cut.

I also found this video on YouTube where she pulled it into a ponytail, chopped some off and voila…same effect.

I’ve actually done this in the past when my hair was shorter and it worked just fine. Now my hair is down past my bra in the middle of my back and it is stick straight. It has no body what so ever, and the weight of all that length was making it be so dull and lifeless. Curls wouldn’t last, they would just fall out. I knew something had to be done, and simple long layers would not be the solution. I created a variation of the ponytail hair cut, and here is what you need to do it.

Hair cutting scissors
Brush
Ponytail holder
Mirror

Basically I cut my hair in sections pulling each section up in a ponytail on the top of my head. This diagram will help you out.

I started by pulling everything up into a ponytail, brushing it straight up and then cutting 1.5-2 inches.
Then I created a section from about the middle of the ear up, pulled it up into a ponytail and left what was basically zone 4 down. I chopped off about another 1.5-2 inches.
I continued on going from about the temple up, leaving zone 3&4 down and cutting 1.5-2 inches off the ponytail.
For zone 1 I actually pulled up a 1 inch section surrounding my center part, leaving zones 2,3&4 down, and cutting 1.5-2 inches off of the tiny zone 1.
By the time I finished I pretty much taken 6-8 inches off of zone 1.
Here is the result with a bit of curl from the curling iron this morning:

It’s still a bit flatter than most peoples hair, but if you saw what it looked like to begin with you would see that this is an improvement.

I finally got sucked into the world of Pinterest. At first I was thinking that I wouldn’t really be into it. It just seemed like another thing to maintain, but once I realized I could pretty much pin anything I saw online I was in love. Often times I see things that I would love to feature on my blog, but I don’t have the time to actually write a post right that second. I had started a method of saving these things, but it was still a bit time consuming. Pinterest to the rescue! As I scour over the internet all I have to do is click my nifty little Pin It button and voila….it is saved!

New Studio/Craft Room

I’ve been working hard getting everything unpacked and in place. The new place is still a disaster, but we’re getting there. While I was off work during Christmas I spent 3 days on and off working on my new Studio. I usually call it a craft room, but I’m liking the word studio better. See, when we were unloading all of our crap a lot of it just got dumped in this room, and there was still a Bowflex type thingie, a chest of drawers and a nightstand in this room that my brother had yet to move. This is more or less what I started with:

I did quite a bit of straightening, rearranging and furniture moving to get to this point:

I simply could not get that Bowflex thingie out of there by myself. It’s heavy, awkward, and actually would not fit down the hallway as is. Finally my brother helped me and we got it out and everything looked much better.

The more and more I stared at the green walls I simply couldn’t take it. I knew those babies would have to get painted. So, I headed to the store the next morning, got a gallon of turquoise paint, supplies and went home and got busy. I also had to get some more curtains, so excuse the creases. They’re straight out of the package. The turquoise is actually showing up a bit more blue than it really is. It’s actually a lovely turquoise called Caribbean Sea.

I also accidentally dripped some paint on one of the pieces of furniture, so I accented it with some Caribbean Sea as well. I still have to do one more coat on the bottom part.

I still have some unpacking to do, but I at least have the essentials put away and I can get some work done.

Recipe – Super Quick Chili Cheese Dip

You might be thinking ewwww what is that, but I can assure you, if you like chili cheese things then you will like this. This is one of my random concoctions that I came up with one day when I wanted some junk food.

Ingredients:

1 can of Castleberry’s Hot Dog Chili

4 slices of American cheese or 8-10 cubes of velveeta

Now, you may ask, are the brands and types of cheese important….yes. Different chili tastes different, but feel free to experiment with your favorite kind. As far as cheese goes, you need to use something that gets creamy when it melts, hence the Velveeta or American, not stringy like cheddar. You could try out something like Mexican dipping cheese, not sure how it would taste though.

Directions:

Microwave in one minute intervals stirring in between until the chili is hot and the cheese melted. Typically 2-3 minutes total depending on your microwave.

You can be a piggie and eat it all by yourself, make just enough for you, or eat what you want and put the left overs in the fridge for later.

Christmas Revisited

I have been a slack blogger, sorry, but with Christmas and moving…well I was tired. What did you do for the holidays? Here’s my little rundown.

December 23rd – I work for the state so I was lucky enough to start my Christmas Vacay, but I had to spend it finishing pack up the old house. We almost got done.

December 24th – Christmas festivities began. We had to go to my parents and the husbands Grandmother’s house. Oh…be fore we even left I managed to drop a glass bowl full of melted white chocolate on the floor. HORRIBLE. The bowl shattered, the glass was covered in chocolate, I cut myself, and of course the chocolate set up before I could clean it all up…yay me! I did however get this cute picture of my parent’s rotten cat in a box that night.

December 25th – Lazy day pretty much…we had brunch at my parents, went to the mother-in-laws for dinner and then went home and vegged out on the couch.

December 26th – I started unpacking the massive amount of boxes…fun

December 27th – Unpacked more boxes…more fun

December 28th – Spent the day with my bro running errands. I had to get some tees for orders. We needed to return and exchange some things, and I bought stuff do DIY Chalkboard Paint.

December 29th – Gave the kitchen a nice DIY Chalkboard Paint accent, and worked on a new light fixture since it is nearly impossible to change the bulbs on the one currently in there. Here’s a sneak peek of the two projects below.

Oh, I also bleached the husband’s hair so that I could dye it some crazy colors. Please note, this was at his request!

December 30th - Started unpacking the craft room/studio. After working in the room all day I decided I hated the color and had to paint. Here is what I started with:

December 31st – Got up and headed straight to the store, picked out a gorgeous turquoise called Caribbean Blue and came home and painted. I also dyed the husband’s hair previously mentioned crazy colors. He was supposed to have Royal Blue, Turquoise and Raspberry Magenta hair, but for some reason only the blue and magenta took. After that I actually relaxed for a bit, and then enjoyed a night out with the best friend and my bro at the bar while the husband was working. I even worked a little bit too. I had to help pour the champagne for the midnight champagne toast. Check out a preview of the craft room.

The turquoise shows up a bit more blue in the picture than it actually is.

January 1st- I did some touch ups on the paint, added some turquoise accents to a chest of drawers, and was lazy the rest of the time.

January 2nd - Yay for this still being a holiday! I moved all of the furniture back into place, brought the rest of it in, and attempted to finish unpacking everything. I still have some boxes with stuff in them, but the major stuff is unpacked. The fabric, and clothing to revamp is all pretty much put up, all that’s really left are odds and ends.

January 3rd – Returned to work….booo.

So, again I ask….what did you do?

Flock of Birds Dress

Find a maxi dress in whatever cut/shape you want. Get some fabric paint, paint brushes, a stencil of a bird, or free hand it if your brave enough.

Goldie’s Lurex Swit Top

Take a sweater (dolman sleeve or not, cut a panel from the front and sew in lace by hand or machine.

Hardware Loafer

Even though these are loafers, you can do this with any type of shoes you please. Just get some studs and pliers and stud away. An awl, knife or razor blade can also be helpful for getting the studs through the leather.

Hopefully this will inspire you to make some looks of your own!

Recipe – Dried Beef Cheese Ball

Just in time for your holiday gatherings, here is a cheese ball that you can whip up in no time that everyone is sure to love.

Ingredients:

2 small jars of dried beef
2 8oz. blocks of cream cheese (softened)
1 tsp garlic salt
2 tbsp grated onion or rehydrated minced onion
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

Directions:

Finely chop or run the dried beef through the food processor. Grate or rehydrate the onions. Put all ingredients in a medium sized mixing bowl together saving about 1/4 of the dried beef for later. Mix it all up with you hands until it is well combined then form it into a ball.

Cover the outside of the ball in the left over dried beef.

Wrap it in plastic wrap and let it chill in the fridge overnight, or for at least a few hours.

Put it on a plate, serve with crackers and enjoy! Everyone will love it, they’ll think you’re wonderful, but it’s actually ridiculously easy!

Oh Christmas Tree & a Present

First….never move during Christmas! I have presents packed away in boxes that I have to find. I’ve been squeezing in time here and there to make gifts. I’ve had the intention of coming in from work and sitting down to paint only to realize that I have no clue where my paint brushes are, therefore I had to hold off on getting that present done…not very happy!
So, in the craziness off all of this I managed to get a couple of things accomplished last night after making a trip to the store for more paint brushes. I got the painting done for a present for a family gathering on Saturday. At this particular gathering we draw names, and the person whose name I drew loves wolves…..soooo…

I kept the painting black and white because I didn’t know what type of decor was in the recipients house, so I figured this was bound to match something. The edges of the canvas are finished so he can hang it as is with no frame, or have it framed.
I was also able to get my Christmas tree up last night. I tried getting some pictures, but pictures of a Christmas tree in a room that is not very well lit kinda suck.

Glitter Heels Tutorial

Designers like Badgley Mischka, Betsey Johnson, Mui Mui and Jeffery Campbell have all gone glam with glitter on their shoes this year. Of course, you can find knock offs in stores everywhere, but if you’re like me I’m sure you have that old pair of heels laying around that have truly seen their better days. Take those old heels and about $10 worth of supplies and make your very own glitter heels in whatever color you please.

Materials:

Heels or any shoe you want to glitter
Mod Podge (I used Gloss Lustre) (MP)
Foam brush
Glitter in the color of your choosing
Mixing container
Paper or something to cover the work surface

Instructions:

1. I didn’t put this in the materials, but make sure your shoes are good and clean. It probably wouldn’t hurt to wipe over them with some rubbing alcohol to make sure there are no oils or anything to keep the MP from adhering.

2. Put some MP in your mixing container, and the add some glitter. I eyeballed this, but probably about a 1:1 ratio. You don’t want the mixture too thick and goopy, but you also don’t want it too thin or you’ll have to paint a bazillion layers. (For the glitter I used fine glitter, but I have seen them done combining the coarse and fine glitter and it looked cool)\

3. Start paint the MP glitter mixture on with your foam brush. Once you have painted all of both shoes, let them dry completely and then paint 1-2 more coats, or enough coats to cover the shoes to your satisfaction.

4. Let them dry according to the MP directions before wearing…then enjoy!

Tip: Once they dried after 2 coats I realized that the black wasn’t very sparkly, so I added a little gold and silver into the mixture for my final coat to give it some pizzazz. I think an iridescent black glitter would be phenomenal, but they were out when I bought the supplies for this.

When we moved in our place a couple of years ago I had grand ideas for decorating, but unfortunately we ran out of money. We left up the curtains that were here when we moved, we kept using our thrift store couch and we gained some hand me downs from the in laws. That left us with this:

Now let me just go ahead and say that I see many pics of blogger houses and everything is perfectly neat and tidy, everything is immaculate. Sometimes things like TV’s and DVD’s are completely hidden. That is simply not us. We have a massive DVD collection, and it would be too much of a pain in the butt to try and hide or conceal all of them. Instead they get neatly arranged on bookcases. I also have some craft stuff stored in the living room. Why you may ask? Simple, this is stuff I work on while watching TV in here, therefore it lives in here. You may also winder why we have the window covered up. We live in a field with no trees to provide shade anywhere near us, and in the summer it gets very hot and very sunny in the south. We use thick curtains, and do what we can to try and cool this place down and reduce the power bill.
The black chest that you see off to the left side is actually on old cedar chest that was my Grandmothers. It doubles as a coffee table/storage unit. I painted it black and then antiqued it with silver. It needs to be redone, but that will be for another day. The red couch in the bottom left hand corner is our thrift store find. It’s not in horrible shape, but it could use some recovering. When we got it I initially covered it in some gray fabric, but the cats picked it and destroyed it, and I never got around to recovering it again. The gigantic entertainment center was actually built from scratch by my father-in-law. It was in their house until they got a new massive flat screen that is wall mounted, thus rendering this useless, so it became ours. I would rather not have this massive thing in here, but my husband loves it, so I let it stay. We tried to put it in the game room, but the ceiling is funky therefore it wouldn’t fit. What you can’t see is a tan love seat that was a hand me down from the in laws as well. It’s in great shape, so no complaints there. When I snapped this pic we were already part of the way in the re-do which is why the love seat and coffee table aren’t in the right places.
I had to bring some newness into this room, and here it is.

A new zebra stripe area rug, and coordinating gray and black damask velvet curtains. I was also able to use the old gray fabric that was once on the couch to recover the couch again. I just used the back side, so none of the snags from the kitties would show.
Here is the new and improved living room. I could still do without the massive entertainment center, but this is much better.

As extra added decor I sprayed some cheap lion, tiger and leopard figurines with silver spray paint. They are sitting a top a satin runner that is draped over the coffee table. The center one is on book full of Rolling Stone covers throughout the years.
Between the couch and DVD’s you see a little silver shelf holding canvas bins that wasn’t there before. Those were originally just stacked on top of each other in the corner, but I remembered I had this little shelf. I gave it coat of silver spray paint and voila. Above it I hung a couple of old vinyl records with simple silver thumbtacks. I had another idea pop in my head for this area last night, but I am waiting for supplies to arrive before I can make it a reality. I see a tutorial in the future though.
I hope you enjoy, and maybe this will inspire you to give a room in your house a simple redo.

Sequined Button Down

Button down, sequins or sequin fabric and glue or needle and thread….the rest should pretty self explanatory.

Fringe Belt

This little gem could easily made from an old belt and some scrap leather. Cut some leather long enough for the belt, cut fringy bits and glue it on. You could glue it on top, or underneath. Use matching leather or not…the choice is yours!

Studded Band Tee

How can you resist studding a band tee??? You can’t get anymore simple, glue them sew them, attach them however necessary. You don’t even have to just use stud, sequins and beads would too. Just have fun with it!

DIY Inspiration & Mini Tutes – Free People November Catalog – Part 1

Just glue some ribbon onto some ballet flats with E6000 and you’re all set.

Take one jacket (leather, denim whatever you want) and bead, sequin and stud the back shoulders how ever you see fit. You can choose to sew them all on, or use some trusty E6000.

This long lace skirt is ridiculously easy as well. You can use scalloped edged lace, a table, curtain, or anything else lace that is big enough. Simply make a rectangle big enough to go around you comfortably, make a casing in the top, insert elastic and voila. It can be sewn by hand or sewing machine, you could probably even get away with gluing it, thought that wouldn’t be my first choice.

Traveling – Las Vegas

VEGAS BABY! The hubby and I just got back from a wonderful trip to Fabulous Las Vegas!
I had to go for work, but I still got a few days to play. A coworker and I arrived a good 8 hours before my husband did. Once we landed I was starving, so we headed over to Margaritaville.

We both chowed down on yummy burgers and fries, and enjoyed some cocktails. I had an “Off to See the Lizard”, which is basically just a melon flavored margarita.
While I was working we were staying at the Caesar’s Palace.

It was gorgeous, but it was a maze. We had maps, but it took some getting used to. The only way my coworker could find the tower to her room, was to follow me to my tower and then she could find the way to hers. I meant to take more pictures while we were at Caesar’s, but I kind of forgot. I did snap this on pic with my cell of the statue in the center of the registration area.

We saw a couple of shows while we were there. The first was X-Burlesque at the Flamingo.

I was expecting more, but the show was still good. It was a lot smaller and more intimate show than I was expecting. I got a great deal on the tickets, and honestly, had I paid more then I would have probably been extra disappointed.
My parents flew in, and we jumped from Caesar’s to the Las Vegas Hilton.

I had to get a picture of the old retro sign. It was the view right out of our window at the Hitlon.
Once they arrived, we opted for a more PG show, Nathan Burton – Comedy Magician. He was on America’s Got Talent. Once again, we got an awesome deal on tickets. These were only $10…how can you beat that?!?!

The next couple of days were spent wondering around, shopping and snapping pics.

I bought these awesome babies during one of our excursions.

We wandered in the MGM Grand and saw the lions. When we first got there they were sleeping….soooo cute!

DIY: Craft Show Hanging Signage

If you've already read my previous tutorial about the free standing craft show signage then this tutorial is should be pretty self explanatory. When I was preparing for my most recent show I needed free standing signage and hanging signage. I've already covered my free standing signage, so now we're on to the hanging.

Materials

- Foam board or plywood (I used foam board because I wanted something lightweight and cheap)
- Pencil
- Ruler, yard stick or some sort of measuring device/straight edge
- Box Cutter, knife, razor blade, scissors, or some sort of cutting instrument suitable for your material
- Chalk Board Paint
- Chalk
- Hanging materials

Directions:

1. Decide what size you want your signs to be and then measure and cut your foam board/plywood. I bought 20x30 foam board, so I cut it in six equal 10x10 squares.

2. Now you follow the directions on the chalk board paint. Spray 2 thin coats, let dry for 24 hours, then condition the surface by rubbing the side of the chalk all over the painted surface, then wipe clean.

3. Decide how you want them to hang. Do you just want to use some double stick tape and stick them to something, or do they need to hang from string or ribbon? For mine I needed to be able to hang them from things, not tape them to things. I used my leather punch to punch two holes along the top edge, and then ran curling ribbon through the holes, and ta-da I had a sign. I could hang it from clothing racks, around mannequin necks, etc.

Traveling - Hilton Head, SC

Once again work has carried me to a new destination. This time I was working a conference in Hilton Head, SC. Here are some pretty pics for your viewing pleasure. These were actually my view from conference site every day.

While we were there we played Pirate Adventure Miniature Golf. I won one game, and the hubby won one, we had fun. I snapped some fun pictures while we were on the course.

The final day I snapped a couple pictures as we were leaving.

DIY: Craft Show Free Standing Signage

I was about to do my big show of the year, and I was revamping a lot of my display. I had always tried to make my signage look creative and professional, and I tried to think of every possible sign I would need before each show and it never failed, I would always wind up having to hand write a sign or two on site. Luckily I have good handwriting, but it still wasn't as cohesive as it could have been, so I started brainstorming. I had been seeing chalkboard paint used for various things all over the blogger world, and it hit me....that is perfect. All I had to do was to figure out what I was going to spray, which I did, and tah-dah my new signage was born. You can do it too, here's how:

Materials:

Acrylic Frames (or anything flat that you can spray that fits your needs)
Fine Grit Sand Paper
Chalkboard Paint
Chalk

Once you've bought these few things, the rest is actually really easy.

1. Lightly sand the surfaces you will be spraying to give them just a bit of texture. This will help your ability to write on the surface. Make sure you get all of the dust off the surface.

2. Then you follow the directions on your chalkboard paint for the rest. For the paint I used you had to spray at least 2 thin coats of paint, let it sit 24 hours and then condition it with chalk by rubbing the chalk all over it using the side of the chalk and then wiping it all off. After that you should have a chalk board surface.

These were great for my show. When I would start running low on something, or would sell out I could easily change the sign and then highlight another item, or change my special deals for the day, etc. They were sturdy, didn't take up much room and they were inexpensive. I made 10 of these, 10 hanging signs (tute coming soon) and a necklace display (tute coming soon) for less than $20.

Arts in the Heart

Arts in the Heart is local festival here in Augusta that celebrates culture, arts and music, They have food tents that feature unique dishes from around the world, performances that showcase different cultures, and arts and crafts. This year was my fourth year being a vendor. This was my biggest year yet, and I loved it. In the past I had always just used one booth space, but this year I opted for two since I was introducing my kids line of clothing, Ankle Biter Apparel, as well as new products for my adult line. It was a ton of work. I worked for three months straight creating tons of newness, but nothing prepared me for the day of. I was used to setting up my one little 10x10 area, and I had it down to a science. I could have it set up in about an hour, hour and half, but the two booth spaces and revamped display took every bit of five hours, followed by numerous tweaks throughout the festival.

I introduced my new Kimono Jackets, as well as recycled purses.

Here is my revamped Kid's wall.

I always like to have one great attention grabbing piece up front to draw people in. This is one that I used during the festival. I got so excited, I almost sold it, but unfortunately the customer's boyfriend wasn't as excited about it as she was.

Here are my pitiful racks towards the end of the day Sunday (the final day). These were super full in the beginning.

DIY: Boho Denim Bustle Skirt

I created this little piece of awesomeness for a friend of mine.

Miss Jaxyn needed something special to wear for the Oh so famous Junk Gypsy, Junk-O-Rama Prom. Of course I was happy to oblige.

Here's goes a mini-tute for this rockin' skirt. I call it a mini-tute because I am not giving you super detailed instructions, but rather tips/guidelines for making your own. I think these skirts just may become a new item in the Jen Ell's Revenge Shop, so I can't give all my secrets away.

Materials:

- Sewing Machine
- Jeans or any pants your willing to sacrifice in the name of creativity
- Fabric (as many or as few kinds as you would like)

Instructions:

1. Rip out the front center leg seams up the zipper however you see fit. You can use your seam ripper, you can cut them, you can even RIP them. Just be careful. Rip out the side leg seams up to about hip level. You may even want to remove the back pockets. Totally up to you, keep reading and decide for your self.

2. Pin the front center together all the way down, right sides together, creating a long straight skirt.

3. Cut a giant arch out of the back of the pants, and a smaller arch out the front. Use the large arch to fill in the smaller arch. This will give the skirt a bit more wiggle room.

4. Add fabric in the sides where you ripped out the seams. If you chose to remove the back pockets, this is where you put them back. Of course you can put them elsewhere on the skirt, the choice is up to you.

5. Next we create the back arch and ruffles. I cut out a gigantic piece of fabric to fit in the arch I cut out. Then I just started ripping long rectangles of fabric and creating ruffles. Once I had made a ton of ruffles I just started pinning and arranging them on my arch. Once I was happy with the arrangement I started sewing them on. After I sewed on all the ruffles I pinned the giant arch in place and sewed it on.

6. Embellish. Now I am not going to give instructions for that. Just have fun and add a bit pf pizzazz wherever you see fit.

Traveling - Atlanta

I recently took a new position at work which requires me to do quite a bit of traveling. I go to Atlanta at least once a month, sometimes more. The people at hotel know us and love us, I always get a nice room, but this time it was especially nice. I got an extra pretty bed.

Unfortunately, my time was spent working and not having fun, so that's the only picture I have for you.

DIY: Cowboy Booties

Do you remember these?

Well I made me some. Excuse the crap pic.

Here's your tutorial.

Materials:

- Cowboy boots
- Scissors
- Belts/leather/pleather strapping
- Chain
- Jump rings
- Needle nose pliers

Instructions:

1. First you have to slit the boots down the center back. Try on your boots and determine exactly how far you want to cut. I had to cut mine down a little further than I wanted because I wanted to make it easier to fit my big feet in them.

2. Fold over the top of the boot to make a cuff.

Optional 3. Now, what I am about to tell you is completely optional. The inside of my boots were beige, and I am not a beige person. I took some black paint and an old crappy paint brush and painted the cuff part black, but I didn't cover it completely, I let some of the beige peek through for a vintage/distressed look.

4. Basically, you just start playing with your belts, leather, chains, etc. Just start wrapping them and connecting them with jump rings. You can even hang some charms or add any other kind of embellishment you can think of. Don't obsess about making both boots match, just go with the flow. I had 2 similar belts, and neither one of them were long enough to cut in half and use on each boot, so each boot has a different belt.

You might ask why there is a picture of snowy landscape, or why I felt the urge to scream the word snow as my title. Well my friends, I just might get some snow tonight, and it just might hang around tomorrow, and I might, just might, get out of work tomorrow. You may think, this is not a big deal, but you see here in the south...in my spot in Georgia we rarely get snow, so when we do it is kind of a big deal! I get kind of excited, and I especially look forward to a day of no work! Wish me luck!
